About this Event
Science Drive, Fredonia, NY 14063
Lakes are found on every continent around the globe, with wide ranging physical, chemical, and biological features. In addition to serving as important resources for humans, lakes provide opportunities for scientists to study current ecological events as well as past records of environmental change. Dr. Wigdahl-Perry's research lab here at Fredonia explores how lakes change through time and space, with focus on the algae communities and water quality conditions that form the foundation of the system. By using a variety of approaches, such as experiments, high-frequency sensors, drones, and sediment micro-fossils, we can learn how these valuable resources function as complex ecosystems, and support community efforts to manage and conserve lakes for future generations.
