Ready-to-Use OER for SUNY Courses: A Lumen Learning Introduction
About this Event
In recognition of Open Education Week, SUNY Fredonia and Jamestown Community College are hosting a joint workshop focused on adopting open educational resources (OER) through Lumen Learning.
Tori Matthews from Lumen Learning will provide an overview of ready-to-adopt course packages available to SUNY faculty. The session will cover how these course packages are structured, supported, and implemented, with an emphasis on reducing textbook costs while maintaining flexibility and instructional quality.
The workshop will begin with brief introductions from Christina Hilburger, OER Lead at SUNY Fredonia, and Cathy Maldonado, OER Lead at Jamestown Community College, who will share information about campus-specific OER support and faculty incentive programs.
This session is open to faculty and instructional staff from both Fredonia and JCC who are exploring OER adoption, considering course redesign, or looking for practical, SUNY-aligned options for affordable course materials. Time will be reserved for questions and discussion.
