The 5 Browns have created an engaging and accessible new program title The Edge of the World. the program is inspired by the primitive concept of a flat Earth. what lies at the edge of everything? If we travel to the edge, would we fall off? At the heart of the program is Nico Muhly's "The Edge of the World," written specifically for The 5 Browns. The piece pushes the element of ensemble to the very edge of what is possible on multiple pianos. Also included in the program are Mars, Neptune and Jupiter from Gustav Holst's "The Planets;" the finale of Mozart's "Jupiter" symphony, a journey over the rainbow with a suite of themes from the film "The Wizard of Oz;" and the beloved Beatles classic, "Blackbird." The program concludes with an explosive trip to the edge of life itself, with the classic skeleton romp "Danse Macabre" by Camille Saint-Saens.
