Artists as Innovators: Celebrating Three Decades of New York State Council on the Arts/New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowships

Features contemporary art (photography, video, animation, performance art, painting,  sculpture, and furniture) by artists who received support from NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowships at crucial points in their careers and became acclaimed and respected around the world. Among the artists are: Ida Applebroog, Sanford Biggers, Wendell Castle, Tara Donovan, Guerilla Girls, Barbara Kruger, Christian Marclay, Tony Oursler, Martha Rosler, Dread Scott, Andres Serrano, and Shinique Smith. In the works on display the fellows address pressing and often controversial issues including racism, gender equality, sexual orientation, immigration, and globalization.
