Founders Day Celebration

To commemorate and thank the citizens of the Village of Fredonia for their vision and persistence in establishing a state college here 150 years ago, Fredonia Mayor Athanasia Landis and Fredonia President Ginny Horvath invite you to join us in our first annual Founders Day celebration.

There will be a march from the flagpole outside Gregory Hall beginning at 7 p.m., led by campus drummers. The march will proceed down Temple Street to the 1891 Fredonia Opera House. At 7:30 p.m., the program will include an historic reenactment, and a musical tribute to silent films featuring Fredonia School of Music faculty Roderick MacDonald and James Welch. The reenactment, written by Dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts Ralph Blasting, will feature actors who are students and community members.

Very nice honor to those who made the investment and commitment to our university. I enjoyed the drummers, the students and community members who portrayed leaders of the past, the remarkd, and the excellent tribute to silent films at the Opera House. A very relevant, well-done evening.
