Faculty Recital: Fr. Sean Duggan, piano "Bach: The Well-Tempered Clavier" (Concert 1 of 3)

Concert 1 of 3. Don't miss this rare musical event.

Fredonia piano professor and Bach specialist, Fr. Sean Duggan, will present J.S. Bach's complete Well-Tempered Clavier over three successive evenings celebrate Bach's 333rd birthday.

The Well-Tempered Clavier consists of 48 preludes and fugues, traversing twice through all the major and minor keys. 48 divided by 3 = 16, so each evening will consist of 16 preludes and fugues in consecutive order.

"It sounds daunting but, because of Bach's wide expressive range & limitless musical imagination, there is enough variety to keep the listener riveted throughout the series," commented Duggan.  "The cycle as a whole is truly one of the great miracles of Western music."

Event is free.

It was a wonderful experience. I attended all three performances and was in heaven , being immersed in Bach's music and fr. Sean's talent. I was also impressed by a group of young male students who were following the music score. The music of Bach should continue for the 400th year celebration with these young talents. Thanks, Helen Burlett
