Tiffany Nicely presents her take on the contrasts and common ground of polar musics: original compositions written in an evolving sculptural style, and traditional musics of Africa and the Diaspora.
The recital features works for piano (performed by I-Fei Chen), trumpet and percussion (with SOM trumpeter Miah Cushman and recent grads Sam Minardi-Lopez and Kyle Michaels, a mallet trio (with the Fredonia Percussion Ensemble), and the premiere of her vibraphone solo "Presage of Autumn" (performed by SOM senior John Klewicki). Nicely also welcomes Diaspora Drumming to the Rosch stage, with her ensemble members Ringo Brill and Gabriel Gutierrez, to perform traditional music of Guinea, Mexico, and Brazil.
