Dunya Mikhail, Iraqi-American poet

Dunya Mikhail has a BA from the University of Baghdad and an MA from Wayne State University. Her honors include a United States Artists Fellowship, Guggenheim Fellowship, a Knight Foundation grant, a Kresge Fellowship, and the United Nations Human Rights Award for Freedom of Writing. Mikhail worked as a journalist for the Baghdad Observer, and currently works as an Arabic special lecturer at Oakland University in Michigan.
