Join a celebration and transcribe-a-thon, as thousands of people around the country gather to mark the birth of Frederick Douglass while transcribing and contributing to resources for learning about Black history. Douglass Day is free and open to the public, and is hosted by the English Department and Reed Library, with support from the Ethnic & Gender Studies Program, the Carnahan-Jackson Fund for the Humanities and the Office of the Provost. Participants are encouraged to bring laptops or devices, but there will also be laptops available (on loan from Reed Library), as well as faculty, Reed Librarians and student volunteers to provide assistance. No prior experience with transcription work is necessary, and participants are welcome to stop in and participate at any time during the program. Refreshments will be served.
