About this Event
Williams Center, Fredonia, NY 14063
In this presentation, Dr. Lee Golembiewski, Assistant Professor of Psychology, provides a brief history of the LGBTQIA+ population, specifically pertaining to trans and gender diverse (TGD) individuals. Dr. Golembiewski will use his personal experience to address the needs commonly expressed by TGD individuals when seeking care. He will also use his previous research and existing literature to identify barriers to treatment and services. As a group, participants will discuss strategies to reduce these barriers and implement safe and afirmative care. Lastly, the presentation wil generate techniques to demonstrate allyship and how people can advocate for TGD and the LBGTQIA+ community at large. This event is co-sponsored by the National Association of Social Workers-New York State Chapter's Western Division and the SUNY Fredonia Social Work Program.
