Join us for SUNY Fredonia’s 2025 Constitution Day keynote featuring Spencer Morgan, Executive Director of the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site in Buffalo, NY. In his talk, “The Birth of the Modern Presidency,” Morgan will explore how Theodore Roosevelt transformed the office of the president into a more activist, public-facing role—setting the stage for the modern presidency as we know it today. Through stories, historical insights, and connections to contemporary politics, Morgan will demonstrate how Roosevelt’s leadership during the Progressive Era reshaped the relationship between the presidency, the people, and the Constitution.

This keynote is part of the American Democracy Project’s ongoing efforts to promote civic learning and democratic engagement on campus. Students, faculty, staff, and community members are all welcome.

Cookies and lemonade will be served. Free and open to the public.
Sponsored by the American Democracy Project and the Carnahan Jackson Fund for the Humanities.
